
Invited by the Center for American law and political science and the Office for international exchange, Professor Eric M. Uslaner from University of Maryland, an expert at government and political issues, visited our university during March 24th and 25th .
In the morning of March 24th, Prof. Uslaner delivered a lecture named Corruption in American Politics: Congress and Elections in the lecture hall. The lecture was chaired by Professor Fu Zitang, Vice President of our university and director of the Center. Before the lecture, Vice President Fu awarded the letter of appointment to Mr. Uslaner and accredited him as the research fellow of our Center.
During his lecture, Prof. Uslaner discussed the relationship between corruption in American politics and the Congress election and made a comparative study on corruption problems in different countries by the means of graphics and charts. He contended that the minor adjustments to the existing institutions cannot eradicate corruption. The only way out was to establish a mechanism in which the wealth can be fairly distributed. After his speech, Prof. Uslaner answered the questions put forward by the audience. Professor Wen Zhengbang, Prof. Xia Dengjun, Prof. Zhao Ming, Prof. Zhang Peitian Prof. Song Yubo, Prof. Wang Xuehui, associate research fellow Zheng Wenlong and director of office for international exchange Zheng Daxuan attended the lecture and communicated with Prof. Uslaner.
In the morning of March 25th, Prof. Uslaner attended the panel discussion with the research fellows of the Center on the moral foundation of trust.
